Cohen Media Group has set a December theatrical release for Bernard-Henri Levy’s Glory to the Heroes, the French philosopher and filmmaker’s third documentary in a series from the frontlines of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The film, co-directed by Marc Roussel, will open Dec. 8 in New York City, followed two days later with a Los Angeles opening and then Dec. 11 in Chicago, Philadelphia and Seattle, before a Washington D.C. rollout on Dec. 12. Levy will attend screenings of the film in New York City, Los Angeles and Washington D.C.

Glory to the Heroes will then hit digital platforms on Jan. 9, 2024, as it captures Ukrainian soldiers in trenches and civilians facing ongoing destruction by invading Russian military forces. The documentary is the follow-up to Slava Ukraini, where Levy chronicled the first days of the Russian invasion in 2022 amid Ukraine’s resistance and which was also released by Cohen Media Group earlier this year.

His documentary series has aimed to give voice to Ukrainian citizens and soldiers as they resist the Russian occupation. “Bernard-Henri Levy’s brave films continue to shine a light on major world events and messages. Glory to the Heroes is no exception. We look forward to bringing this important and compelling film to North American audiences,” Charles S. Cohen said in a statement on Wednesday.

Levy’s latest film recounts his travels in war-torn Ukraine in June 2023, including in Kherson, Olevsk and Bakhmut, as Ukrainian forces mounted a counteroffensive against Russian forces just as Western countries, including the United States, showed war fatigue and impatience with the pace of a devastating conflict in the heart of Europe.

“This film is a firm rebuke to these critiques and shows precisely the opposite from the frontline trenches. Most of all, the film is a plea for bolstered Western support and an exhortation for Ukraine never to become a forgotten war,” Levy said in his own statement.

Glory to the Heroes will be released in France on the public channel France Télévisions on Nov. 14.
