Cathy Nam, a longtime communications executive, has joined Universal Filmed Entertainment Group as senior vp, global communications.
The executive is moving from New Line Cinema, the Warner Bros. division where he spent more than two decades honing his public relations skills.
According to Tuesday’s announcement, Nam will help lead integrated communications strategy efforts across UFEG’s global portfolio, working with partners and production divisions including creative development, production, acquisitions, marketing and distribution, home entertainment and franchise management . Nam will also provide support to Universal film labels Focus Features and DreamWorks Animation.

He will report to Evan Langweiler, the company’s executive vice president, global communications and media relations, and will be based at the studio’s headquarters in Universal City.

Nam most recently served as senior vp, advertising and communications at New Line Cinema, where he helped oversee the launch of two of the best-performing horror franchises of all time: IT AND The summoning Universe. Nam is a longtime member of the Warner Bros. family, having spent over a decade at Warner Bros. Pictures before moving to New Line in 2015. He began his career as a global trainee and has worked his way up to overseeing international advertising and awards campaigns for select theatrical releases in 120 countries around the world.
