Chernin Gets New Book From ‘The Night Agent’ Author Matthew Quirk (Exclusive)

Chernin Entertainment has obtained the rights to the latest novel by Matthew Quirk, the author of the book which has been adapted into the popular Netflix series The night agent.

Internal threatwhich was released this week by William Morrow, takes place after an attack on the White House and, as the book synopsis reads: “The president and his top aides take refuge in a top-secret government facility buried underground, but soon discover that the threat is locked up inside them.

Said Quirk, “It’s my go to Die Hard OR Seven days in May storyline with a mystery in a closed room in the style of Agatha Christie. I am absolutely thrilled to work with everyone at Chernin Entertainment and can’t wait to see these characters on the big screen.

Netflix has adapted The night agent it starred Gabriel Basso and Hong Chau, and proved popular for the streamer, gaining 2.6 billion U.S. view minutes for the week of its premiere, according to Nielsen. Shortly after its premiere, the series was renewed for a second season.

Other novels by Quirk, which he worked on The Atlantic covering crime and terrorism before writing fiction, includes The 500, red alert AND Dead man switch. He is represented by CAA, Writers House and Lichter Grossman.

Chernin’s upcoming list includes the Netflix action comedy Back in action starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, the high school basketball drama produced by LeBron James Ball Rez, and the musical comedy A24 Fucking identical twins.
