How to watch the Tony Awards 2023

The 76th Annual Tony Awards will take place tonight at the United Palace in New York City, honoring the best plays and musicals of Broadway’s 2022-2023 season. The event will mark the culmination of a star-studded year that saw the likes of Jessica Chastain, Oscar Isaac, Samuel L. Jackson and Rachel Brosnahan stomp the show on the Great White Way.

Following her successful turn as host of the show last year, Ariana DeBose is returning to host a ceremony that will take on an alternate format due to the ongoing WGA strike. As the entire entertainment industry tries to navigate the complex politics of staging award shows without crossing the picket lines, the Tony Awards has made a point of avoiding using scripted dialogue in its broadcast. This means that the traditional opening monologue will likely be skipped and DeBose’s show should rely more on music than in years past. (Given the Oscar winner’s history of performing music at award shows, that restriction seems unlikely to be an issue.)

As usual, the show will feature live performances from all the major musical nominees. Best Musical contenders to perform include ‘& Juliet’, ‘Kimberly Akimbo’, ‘New York, New York’, ‘Shucked’ and ‘Some Like It Hot’. Also performing are all four contenders for Best Revival of a Musical – “Camelot,” “Into the Woods,” “Parade,” and “Sweeney Todd.”

Want to make sure you don’t miss any action? The 2023 Tony Awards will air in their traditional slot on CBS on Sunday, June 11 starting at 8pm ET / 5pm PT. The show will also be available to stream live on Paramount+. A pre-show featuring live presentation of the Tony awards in several categories below the line will be streamed on Pluto TV starting at 6:30pm ET.
