It ends with us will hit theaters sooner than expected.
Sony Pictures’ adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, starring Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar, will be released on February 9, 2024.
Production on the film began in New Jersey in May but was halted a month later with less than half of the film completed after facing protesters due to the writers’ strike. The production hopes to resume filming once the strike ends, and the February release date suggests they’re confident it will be completed on time.

According to the book’s synopsis, It ends with us “It follows a girl named Lily (Lively) who has just moved away and is ready to start her life after college. Lily then meets a boy named Ryle (Baldoni), and she falls in love with him. As she develops feelings for Ryle, Atlas (Sklenar), her first love, reappears and challenges Lily and Ryle’s relationship.
Hoover recently addressed fans who seem disgruntled Lively and the casting of Baldoni due to the age of the actors. Talking with Today, the author noted that she wanted to age the film’s characters to correct a mistake she made while writing the book.
“When I wrote It ends with usthe new adult genre was very popular,” he said. “You were writing college-age characters. That’s what I was tasked with doing. I created Lily very young. There is no neurosurgeon in his 20s.When I started making this film, I thought, “We have to age them, because I screwed up.” So, it’s my fault.
In addition to starring in the project, Baldoni is also directing and executive producing, with Lively and Hoover joining him as EPs. Christy Hall (I’m not okay with this) wrote the screenplay.
