Jennifer Garner Returns as Elektra for ‘Deadpool 3’ (Exclusive)

Jennifer Garner is picking up Elektra’s sai once again.

After a hiatus of almost twenty years, the actress returns to the role of the assassin anti-heroine of Marvel comics for Deadpool 3multiple sources say The Hollywood Reporter.

The Marvel Studios production is currently filming with Ryan Reynolds reprising his fan-favorite part of the fourth Mercenary with his mouth breaking walls. Hugh Jackman has come out of Marvel retirement to play Wolverine once again.

Shawn Levy is in the director’s chair with plans to be the first film to feature one character, or in this case, two or three or more, from the stable that once belonged to Twentieth Century Fox. Fox owned several silos of Marvel characters before its 2019 acquisition by Disney brought the movie rights to the characters back into Marvel proper.

Garner first played Marvel’s assassin on 20th Century Fox Reckless, the 2003 film starring Ben Affleck as the man without fear. While the film was not a success, it spawned a spin-off, with Garner starring in a solo act Electra two years after. That, too, wasn’t a box office hit, but it was notable in that Garner was one of the few women directing a studio comic book film at the time.

His involvement in Deadpool 3 it hints at some sort of multiverse angle to the film that’s been rumored for some time, and it’s possible that other characters from Fox-made Marvel films could appear. But this being Dead Poolone cannot even exclude a goal, self-awareness.

Marvel could not be reached for comment.

When she first played Elektra, Garner was in the midst of her starring role as secret agent Sydney Bristow in the ABC thriller Aliaswhich aired over 105 episodes from 2001 to 2006. His recent films include the 2021 Netflix hit Yes Day and made a poignant appearance alongside Reynolds in a sci-fi adventure The Adam Projectdirected by Levi.

She also appeared on the recent Party down rebooted and starred and executive produced the Apple TV limited series The last thing he said to me, which debuted in April. Garner is represented by CAA, Linden Entertainment and Jason Sloane and Harris Hartman of Sloane, Offer.

To produce Deadpool 3 it’s Kevin Feige, Levy and Reynolds from Marvel. The screenplay is by Reynolds, Levy, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese and Zeb Wells.
