Jodie Turner-Smith joins Jared Leto in Disney’s ‘Tron 3’

Jodie Turner-Smith, who starred in the 2019 crime drama Queen and slimjoined the cast of Tron: Aresthe third installment in Disney’s technologically advanced film series.

Jared Leto, Greta Lee and Evan Peters have already signed in to the computer adventure, which is preparing for shooting in August in Vancouver. Joachim Ronning who helmed Maleficent: mistress of evil and co-directed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Talesis in the director’s chair.

Disney released the original Tron in 1982, with Jeff Bridges as video game designer Kevin Flynn, who is transported inside his own creation and collaborates with Tron, a security program played by Bruce Boxleitner. Bridges returned for a 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy.

While the previous two films were largely set in the world of computers and programs, the screenplay of Areswritten by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne, it is said to focus on the emergence of a sentient program that traverses the human world that is not ready for contact.

Leto, who has been linked to the project for several years, will play Ares, the manifestation of the program. Lee plays a video game programmer and technology CEO in what is described as the lead role.

It’s unclear who Turner-Smith plays.

Justin Springer and Jeffrey Silver are producing as are Emma Ludbrook and Leto, the latter through their Paradox production company. Russell Allen is running the production.

Turner-Smith starred in the TNT drama The last ship and SyFy’s space horror drama Night flyers before getting strong alerts with Subtledirected by Melina Matsoukas and with a screenplay by Lena Waithe.

She was most recently seen on Netflix Murder mystery 2 with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, and later appears in the Disney+ series Star Wars, The Acolyte.
