Pop quiz, hot shot: Liam Neeson must figure out what to do when he discovers a bomb in his vehicle in the film’s first full trailer Salary.

Director Nimród Antal’s Lionsgate outing hits theaters on August 25 and is a remake of the 2015 Spanish-language thriller of the same name. The new take centers on Matt Turner (Neeson), who is driving with his children when he learns from a mysterious caller that the car contains a bomb that will explode if anyone exits the vehicle, resulting in a high-speed chase across the city.

“Honey, something happened,” Neeson calmly says in the trailer. “There’s a man who planted a bomb in the car. Under our seats are push triggers. We can’t go out. The car will explode.”

Later, the star loses her cool when the caller claims she’s in control: “No, you’re not! You hurt my daughter, you son of a bitch. I will kill you.”

Antal directs from a screenplay by Chris Salmanpour and Andrew Baldwin, and the trailer evokes memories of the 1994 bus bombing Speed. Salary co-stars Matthew Modine, Noma Dumezweni, Jack Champion, Lilly Aspell and Embeth Davidtz. Andrew Rona, Alex Heineman, Jaume Collet-Serra and Juan Sola are the producers of the project.

Neeson’s recent credits include Marlowe, the crime film directed by Neil Jordan which hit theaters earlier this year and starred the actor as private detective Philip Marlowe created by Raymond Chandler. In 2022, Neeson starred in Memory AND black light and has appeared in television series such as Derry girls AND Atlanta.
