Lionsgate Confirms Early Development Of ‘John Wick 5’

Lionsgate film group president Joe Drake has teased development of a fifth film at the studio John Wick franchise on Thursday during a fourth-quarter earnings call that had fans buzzing.

“What is official is that, as you know, Dancer is the first spinoff that will be released next year. We are in development on three more, including five and including the television series, The Continentalwhich will air soon,” he said. “We are building the world and when those five films come out, it will be organic – it will have grown organically from the way we are starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence from John wick.

The March 24 release of the film directed by Chad Stahelski John Wick: Chapter 4 was another hit for the Keanu Reeves-starring assassin franchise, surpassing $363 million globally. Its success immediately raised questions about the potential for a fifth film that studio reps and the director himself agreed was on the table.

The film ended with McShane’s Winston and Fishburne’s Bowery King standing at a grave bearing Wick’s name. What really happened? We’ll have to wait to find out.
