Sundance horror film ‘Run Rabbit Run’ takes first place on Netflix

Again. “John Wick: Chapter 4” (Lionsgate) ($5.99) is #1 on iTunes and Google Play, while “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” at $19.99 (Universal) is #1 on Vudu ( which calculates based on revenue, not transactions).

Like most weeks, Netflix’s Top 10 Movies list is upside down. New at number 1 is “Run Rabbit Run,” an Australian horror film that the streamer acquired from the Midnight section of the Sundance Film Festival. It stars “Succession” actress Sarah Snook as a fertility doctor who notices her daughter’s strange behavior.

Beyond that, ‘Mario’ is in two runner-up spots while ‘Fast X’ is Vudu’s #2, aided by its $19.99 price tag. “The Covenant” (MGM) is #3 on iTunes, “The Machine” (Sony) at $19.99 #3 on Vudu, with “Fast X” #3 on Google Play.

Summer issue no. 1 (for now), “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” (Disney), will be released on July 7, a full 63 days after its theatrical release. He should have no problem taking over at number 1, possibly for multiple weeks.

New this week are “Are You There, God? It’s me, Margaret” (Lionsgate), boosted by its low price of $5.99. It’s #5 on iTunes (#11 on Google Play) after a lackluster reaction at $19.99. “Knights of the Zodiac” (Phase 6), a live-action anime adaptation filmed in Hungary, is #7 on Vudu at $14.99.

Along with ‘Rabbit’, other Netflix originals in the charts are ‘Extraction 2’, now in third place after two weeks in the top spot, ‘The Perfect Find’, which had a good run at no. animated original at no. 9.

Six newly added film titles are in the Netflix top 10, with Sony’s 2013 hit “White House Down” in second place and “Thank You for Your Service” in fourth place.
