The deals are finalized in the shadow of a looming actors’ strike. A SAG-AFTRA strike could begin as early as midnight PT on July 12, and if that were to happen, any negotiations between reps and studios would come to a halt like a bullet hitting the Man of Steel’s chest.
Gunn made some of his picks a while back, but he was waiting to pull the trigger on deals or revelations until he found his Kent and Lane. Inheritance has a release date of July 11, 2025, and Gunn still expects to shoot early next year, despite a potential strike slowing down Hollywood. The director is directing and wrote the script, which shows a world that was already filled with a slew of super-powered heroes before Superman arrived.
Metamorpho was created by Bob Haney and Ramona Fradon in 1965 and is a man who can transmute the elements of his body into various forms, taking those properties as powers. Having previously been an archaeologist, his skills set him on the path of heroism. He later became a detective and a founding member of the supergroup known as the Outsiders. The character’s wobbly appearance and abilities seem to align with Gunn’s established love for off-center characters who finds unique ways to highlight and become scene-stealers or emotional cores.
Carrigan played fan favorite NoHo Hank for the entire series berry, HBO’s beloved dark comedy that racked up more than 50 Emmy nominations over its four seasons, the last of which ended in May.
